The HUD Choice Neighborhoods Initiative employs a comprehensive approach to neighborhood transformation.
The Choice planning team is striving for an open and transparent process that respects the local culture and history of the community while building off of previous and ongoing planning efforts and neighborhood improvements. The Plan will use a comprehensive approach to neighborhood transformation that places residents and other stakeholders at the core of the effort. A variety of activities will be created to involve residents and stakeholders including large community meetings, resident meetings, Task Force meetings, one-on-one interviews and online feedback.

Plan Tenants
The Choice Neighborhoods Initiative (CNI) is focused on three core goals:
Housing
Transform distressed public and assisted housing into energy efficient, mixed-income housing that is physically and financially viable over the long-term
People
Support positive outcomes for families who live in the target development and the surrounding neighborhood, particularly outcomes related to residents’ health, safety, employment, mobility, and education
Neighborhood
Transform distressed, high-poverty neighborhoods into viable, mixed-income and sustainable neighborhoods with access to well-functioning services, high quality public schools and education programs, high quality early learning programs and services, public assets, public transportation, and improved access to jobs.
